Day Once Dawned

Extract from 1995's collection From The Morning

First exhibited in the Light From The Darkroom at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1996, the work was triggered by the loss of Stewart's first child, after a miscarriage. The title - and inspiration for most of the imagery - was taken from Nick Drake's third and final 1972 album, Pink Moon

From The Morning was the start of Stewart's ten year landscape project, LAND/SEA/SKY.
